Admission Guidelines for Foreign Citizens
The academic year usually starts in September/October and ends in June.
A Bachelor’s degree programme normally takes 4 academic years to complete and comprises 240 ECTS credits. A Master’s degree programme normally takes 1.5 academic years to complete and comprises 90 ECTS credits. A Doctor of Philosophy programme takes 4 academic years to complete; its educational component comprises 60 ECTS credits.
International applicants are admitted to Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctor of Philosophy programmes.
The language of instruction is Ukrainian. English-language academic support, consultations and teaching materials may be provided for particular educational programmes and courses.
During martial law, the educational process is organised mainly online using modern digital learning platforms and video conferencing tools.
Admission of foreign citizens is carried out through the Unified Interdepartmental Information System of Ukraine for Foreign Citizens and Stateless Persons Seeking Admission to Educational Institutions of Ukraine.
To obtain an electronic Invitation for Study, an applicant must register in the Unified System, select Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University and the desired educational programme, and upload the required documents.
The documents submitted through the Unified System must include information confirming the applicant’s identity and previously obtained education. Educational documents issued abroad must be authenticated in accordance with the procedure applicable in the country of their issuance and translated into Ukrainian.
The electronic Invitation for Study is issued through the Unified System and is valid for no more than six months from the date of its signing by the University’s authorised representative.
Entrance Competences Assessment
Foreign citizens are admitted to accredited educational programmes on the basis of the results of the entrance examination for foreign applicants.
The entrance examination includes a written or test-based assessment of the applicant’s level of preparedness in one or more subjects, academic disciplines or the chosen specialty, taking into account the specific educational programme to which the applicant seeks admission.
Foreign citizens who take the entrance examination for foreign applicants do not take any other entrance examinations.
Admission may be conducted in person or remotely. During remote entrance examinations, the University identifies the applicant using remote technologies with mandatory video recording.
Based on the results of the competitive selection, successful applicants fulfil the enrolment requirements, conclude the relevant education agreement and, where applicable, the agreement on the provision of paid educational services. Enrolment is formalised by an order of the Rector.
